I’ve only recently learnt the true meaning of being kind to and respecting people you can’t stand. It’s hard…it’s horrifyingly, terrifyingly, petrifyingly hard!
I’ve had incidences with people when I can’t believe they would do something like that or they do something that’s wrong while they think it’s right, etc…but the ultimate remedy for people who love making an enemy out of you is what we find in Proverbs 25:
21 If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat;
if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.
22 In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head,
and the Lord will reward you.
This method was suggested to me by my mom and this is the challenge I’m taking on for this week.
Don’t get me wrong: We aren’t supposed to be spiteful in doing so, but we are allowed to be ourselves, which hopefully, means we are happy even when others are upset with us. If we know that we have apologized where we needed to and our slates are clean, then we can go on living and making a joyful noise unto the Lord!
Enjoy the rest of your evening!
