Discovering What It Means To Be Selfless – Day 2

Day 2 of Discovering What It Means To Be Selfless is about loving others just as I love myself and showing that by being sympathetic and like-minded in Christ. This is quite a big issue! It’s the second greatest commandment … Continue reading

Discovering What It Means To Be Selfless – Day 1

I recently searched for verses on this specific topic and found 20-something that I took on in my bible study hours. I hope to publish as time allows. Here’s Day 1 of “Discovering what it means to be selfless.” Let’s … Continue reading

Blessings of Grace…

Hey there! You’ve probably heard of “…we have been saved by grace…” but do you truly understand what that means? It comes from Ephesians 2:8 “For it is by GRACE you have been saved, through FAITH and this is not from … Continue reading

Daily Verse—April 17th

 Unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ

U on His mind

Romans 1:16

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, died for you on the cross of Calvary, more than 2,000 years ago. He paid the penalty for your sin and endured the pain that was rightfully your’s. He paid it all!

When one reads it in that way, it makes you ashamed of being ashamed of His Word. Can you honestly say that you’re boldly proclaiming His Word to the lost of this world? Or are you still ashamed of speaking up, nervously wondering who will be the first to laugh at you?

Faith That Matches Flowers

When my parents first made the decision to move back to this mission station, I was strongly apposing the idea! I did not want to come and, even if I had to stay alone, I just as well could have—at least, in my heart…

I had many worries at first: where will we get money? How will we afford clothes? What about food and groceries? How will we live? What I didn’t realize at the time, was that God truly cares for His Children in miraculous ways! I had never had that concept of “living by faith” so clearly demonstrated as in the first week of our arrival! We received boxes and bakkie-loads of dairy juices, yoghurt, baby cereal (which Ben-Joshua would soon have had need of) and lots more! I just couldn’t believe what mission life is like! I had the impression that “mission people” dress in a boring way, live in solitary and are poor. But, I was positively surprised! We dress fashionably, but decently; we do not live in solitude—we often go shopping, attend functions and enjoy a swim; and we are definitely not poor! The Lord makes sure that the whole mission always has food to eat, and the most recent bakkie-loads have been mainly ice cream! The ice cream brands that we receive are brands that we never even bought while we had a salary, but now that we live by faith, we are stocked up on ice cream. So much so, that, we often distribute to those in need as well!

However, I sought some re-assurance of sorts and I found a couple of verses:

2 Corinthians 5:7

For we live by faith, not by sight.

Galatians 3:11

11 Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.”[a]

Hebrews 11:13

All these people were still living by faith when they died.

The Lord really does provide for His Children. The verse below is sort of one of my motto’s:

Romans 12

A Living Sacrifice

12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

We are given the opportunity to have “faith that matches flowers.”

We ought to have a brilliantly strong faith, just as flowers need to be brilliantly strong out in the open.

Flowers are a part of Who God is. Faith is a part of Who God is.

Humans love to smell and see a pretty flowers—so, we can conclude that, because humans are made in the image of God, that God also loves flowers.

Christians need faith to endure, survive, and trust God—so, we can conclude that, God requires His Children to trust Him for everything they need.

We can live the ‘abundant, Christ-filled life’ if we would surrender our lives to Christ. He’s our Creator; He knows what He’s doing!

Daily Verse—April 16th

Well, today has been busy and my eyes are mysteriously closing subconsciously, so I’ll make this post short…

Joshua 5:1

“Now when all the Amorite kings west of the Jordan and all the Canaanite kings along the coast heard how the Lord had dried up the Jordan before the Israelites until they[a] had crossed over, their hearts melted in fear and they no longer had the courage to face the Israelites.”

When I read this, I understood that even during tough times, the Lord is still stronger and He can still make people’s hearts melt in fear because of His great Power! We are given the courage to: fight the Evil One, stand against temptation, and die with dignity—knowing Christ was/is the centerpiece of our lives…

Dedicate your life to Him today and your tomorrow will be filled with new hope, your today with new vigor and your yesterday will be crosses out of His Black List.

Daily Verse—April 15th

Are you in a tight spot at the moment? Have you ever been in a predicament that you have no control over? Have you been scared to death about your circumstances, relationships, friendships, terrorists, etc.? The Bible (which, by the way, is the unabridged Word of God) tells us that God is our Refuge and Strength. When we, as Christians, live according to His regulations, and stay under His “umbrella of protection,” then we are as safe as anyone could be!

If you’re still struggling to believe this, read Psalm 54 below…

Psalm 54

Save me, O God, by your name;
    vindicate me by your might.
Hear my prayer, O God;
    listen to the words of my mouth.

Arrogant foes are attacking me;
    ruthless people are trying to kill me—
    people without regard for God.[c]

Surely God is my help;
    the Lord is the one who sustains me.

Let evil recoil on those who slander me;
    in your faithfulness destroy them.

I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you;
    I will praise your name, Lord, for it is good.
You have delivered me from all my troubles,
    and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.

Sill doubting? Maybe you need to rededicate your life to Christ…then you’ll feel the assurance that only He can provide!
