Discovering What It Means To Be Selfless – Day 1

I recently searched for verses on this specific topic and found 20-something that I took on in my bible study hours. I hope to publish as time allows. Here’s Day 1 of “Discovering what it means to be selfless.” Let’s … Continue reading

“It’s all my fault!”

Do you ever feel like everything you do causes trouble for yourself or others? I have felt like that and I know others that have felt like that too…It’s a common feeling among passionate missionary youths. Someone got into trouble … Continue reading

Faith That Matches Flowers

When my parents first made the decision to move back to this mission station, I was strongly apposing the idea! I did not want to come and, even if I had to stay alone, I just as well could have—at least, in my heart…

I had many worries at first: where will we get money? How will we afford clothes? What about food and groceries? How will we live? What I didn’t realize at the time, was that God truly cares for His Children in miraculous ways! I had never had that concept of “living by faith” so clearly demonstrated as in the first week of our arrival! We received boxes and bakkie-loads of dairy juices, yoghurt, baby cereal (which Ben-Joshua would soon have had need of) and lots more! I just couldn’t believe what mission life is like! I had the impression that “mission people” dress in a boring way, live in solitary and are poor. But, I was positively surprised! We dress fashionably, but decently; we do not live in solitude—we often go shopping, attend functions and enjoy a swim; and we are definitely not poor! The Lord makes sure that the whole mission always has food to eat, and the most recent bakkie-loads have been mainly ice cream! The ice cream brands that we receive are brands that we never even bought while we had a salary, but now that we live by faith, we are stocked up on ice cream. So much so, that, we often distribute to those in need as well!

However, I sought some re-assurance of sorts and I found a couple of verses:

2 Corinthians 5:7

For we live by faith, not by sight.

Galatians 3:11

11 Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.”[a]

Hebrews 11:13

All these people were still living by faith when they died.

The Lord really does provide for His Children. The verse below is sort of one of my motto’s:

Romans 12

A Living Sacrifice

12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

We are given the opportunity to have “faith that matches flowers.”

We ought to have a brilliantly strong faith, just as flowers need to be brilliantly strong out in the open.

Flowers are a part of Who God is. Faith is a part of Who God is.

Humans love to smell and see a pretty flowers—so, we can conclude that, because humans are made in the image of God, that God also loves flowers.

Christians need faith to endure, survive, and trust God—so, we can conclude that, God requires His Children to trust Him for everything they need.

We can live the ‘abundant, Christ-filled life’ if we would surrender our lives to Christ. He’s our Creator; He knows what He’s doing!
